Raari's Winter Knitwear Care Guide

At Raari, we want you to cuddle up in cozy knits that last a lifetime. Here's a guide to ensure your favorite winter essentials stay looking and feeling their best:

Cashmere

  • Hand wash: Fill a basin with cool water and a cashmere-safe detergent. Gently swish the garment without agitating. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until the suds disappear.

  • Dry flat: Never hang cashmere! Lay it flat on a towel, reshape gently, and blot excess moisture. Roll the towel to absorb more water, then unroll and reshape the garment to dry completely on a flat surface.

  • Steaming: Use a steamer to refresh wrinkled cashmere. Hold the steamer at a safe distance to avoid scorching.

Pashmina

  • Dry clean only: Pashmina is extremely delicate, and dry cleaning is the safest option. Look for a reputable cleaner specializing in delicate fabrics.

  • Store carefully: Store pashminas in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Use breathable storage containers like cedar chests to prevent moths.

Wool Silk

  • Hand wash or dry clean: You can choose between hand washing with a wool-safe detergent or dry cleaning. For hand washing, follow the same instructions as cashmere.

  • Lay flat to dry: Avoid hanging or drying in direct sunlight.

  • Ironing: Use a cool iron setting and iron on the reverse side of the garment through a pressing cloth.

Wool Silk

  • Hand wash or machine wash: Merino wool is more forgiving than other wools. You can hand wash it with a wool-safe detergent or machine wash it on a gentle cycle with cold water.

  • Lay flat to dry: Avoid using the dryer, as it can shrink and damage merino wool.

  • De-pill occasionally: Merino wool is prone to pilling. Use a fabric shaver to gently remove pills without damaging the garment.

General Tips

  • Spot clean: Treat spills and stains immediately with a clean, damp cloth. Blot the stain, don't rub.

  • Store folded: Avoid hanging knitwear, as it can stretch out the shape. Fold them neatly and store them in drawers.

  • Air regularly: Air out your knits regularly to prevent musty odors and freshen them up.
